About RAD

The Spokane Housing Authority (SHA) is participating in a new program offered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) called the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program.  RAD seeks to preserve public housing by providing public housing agencies (PHAs) with access to more stable funding to make needed improvements to properties or invest in new affordable housing development.  In January of 2016 the Parson’s Hotel converted from public housing to affordable housing and is undergoing a $2.1 million dollar renovation.  SHA is now beginning work on the second phase of its RAD project by addressing its portfolio of  scattered site properties located throughout Spokane County.  We will continue to use this site as a way of providing updates on our progress.
